Good Works

Sitting at my desk beginning to write this I feel like I’ve written the same three paragraphs over and over again so I’m just going to copy+paste something I put on my Facebook page a couple of days ago. I’ll elaborate a bit further after.

So I wanted to wait for official pictures and stuff but I’m too eager to share the news of the Fright Film Competition last night! Out of 12 films submitted, Good Works WON the following awards –
Best Makeup/Wardrobe – Elizabeth DeFelice / Thefxorcist
Best Editing
Best Screenplay – Jason Orr
The film was nominated for the following –
Best Film
Best Director – DJ Remark (My FB Page for clarification)
Best Cinematography – Adam Kurtz
Best Actress – Stella Rae
Best Supporting Actress – Angelia Green
Best Original Score – Ted Novotny
I can’t thank everybody enough. The entire cast and crew were great to work with and I can’t wait for next year. I’m actually terrible at giving speeches so I’ll be happy if videos of those do not surface 😂 but I truly had such an amazing time working on this project. Everything from concept to production was an experience for me and I learned so much from everyone which is really my biggest takeaway from all this.
I have nothing but good things to say about the 1st annual Fright Film Competition. The event was splendid. All of the films were great which made the competition very difficult and made the awards we won that much more precious to me. It was very well organized and despite a few spelling hiccups the Skellies were very well crafted and the nomination certificates very well designed on nice heavy gloss card stock. The Theater was a great location and I loved the haunted history of the building so it was the perfect choice for a horror competition screening. I truly can’t wait for next year.
Lastly I want to give a shout out and thank Adam Dell for bringing the opportunity to participate in this contest to me. I thought your film was very good and I can’t wait to see the director’s cut and I hope you get to fully realize that project. Like I said before, the success Good Works enjoyed is in no small thanks to you. I look forward to working with you again and competing next year

Acceptance “speech” for Best Editor

I’m honestly super proud of the accomplishment of this short film. I learned so much about being a director and my own 1st AD on this set and it is quite clear how underappreciated 1st ADs are and how I will attempt to have my own on set from now on. I feel like I’ve exhausted my praise for the whole cast and crew of this project but I’ll say again what a great time I had on and off set with everyone involved. Already planning for next year.
